Emergency Plumbing
Answered around the clock for active leaks, backups and no-water situations.
North of Rosecrans the tracts run later and flatter, mid-1950s and 60s slab-on-grade singles, plumbed in copper, with the supply lines routed where nobody can see them.

These blocks were built late enough for copper and early enough that running it under the slab was standard practice. Sixty years on, that copper is at the age where pitting corrosion starts producing leaks you cannot see and cannot easily reach.
The consolation is the attic. Single-story houses with open attic space make an overhead reroute genuinely practical, so a slab leak here rarely has to mean breaking concrete.

Dominated by supply-side problems below the floor.
Northwest Norwalk is minutes from most of the service area. Slab leak work needs specific equipment on the truck (acoustic gear, thermal camera, pressure test kit) so describing the symptom on the phone is what gets the right vehicle sent the first time.
Any slab leak quote should come with a marked location and a stated reason for opening the floor rather than rerouting overhead. On single-story houses with attic access, the reroute is very often the better buy.
Locate it before anyone cuts. Same-day slab leak detection is usually available.

The blocks running west toward the 605 are postwar tract housing on slab, and they share a supply-side story: galvanized steel, installed when the houses went up, now scaled enough that the original half-inch branches behave like something considerably smaller. It shows first in the fixtures furthest from the meter and last in the ones nearest it, which is why the shower at the back of the house is usually the first complaint.
Pressure here is the other recurring theme, and it cuts both ways. Some of these streets see static pressure high enough to shorten the life of every flexible connector, fill valve and washing machine hose in the house. Above 80 psi you are outside what fixtures are designed for, and the damage is slow and expensive: a hairline weep behind a wall rather than a burst you can hear.
Static pressure is a five-minute test at a hose bib, and it settles the argument. If it is high, a pressure-reducing valve protects everything downstream. If it is low, the problem is inside the house and the regulator is not the answer. Either way it is a measurement, not an opinion.
The classic signs are a warm spot on the floor, the sound of water with every fixture off, an unexplained bill increase, and pressure that has fallen house-wide. The meter test confirms it: if the meter creeps with the house isolated, water is escaping somewhere.
Usually, on houses like these. Rerouting the affected line through the attic abandons the failed run under the slab and removes the possibility of it happening again on that line. Opening the slab is for cases where the reroute path is impractical.
It is worth pricing. If one buried run has pitted through, the others are the same age in the same soil. Rerouting the whole system overhead costs more than a single repair, and it retires the category of problem permanently.
If static pressure at the hose bib is above about 80 psi, yes; that is beyond what residential fixtures and connectors are built for, and it quietly destroys them. If it is normal and you still have problems, a regulator will not help and we will say so.
Brown from the cold side, worst first thing in the morning, is usually scale from galvanized supply pipe. Brown from the hot side only points at the water heater tank. Running each side separately for thirty seconds tells you which one you have before anybody opens anything.
Same dispatch either way. Northwest Norwalk fades into Santa Fe Springs and Downey at the edges, so just give us the cross street.
